What To Consider When Buying A Pressure Cooker

We must admit it is confusing looking at the technical specifications, not knowing what those numbers mean and whether they matter. Skip it, and try to approach it systematically by understanding its safety features, functionality, ease of use, and price value.

Safety Features

Safety first! The physics behind the magic of pressure cookers will explain why you need to consider built-in safety features. As you cook with the lid tightly sealed, the vapor from the food is trapped inside the pressure cooker. At high temperatures, more vapor is produced as the existing free vapor volume expands, increasing the pressure inside the cooker. To ensure this pressure doesn't get out of hand, you need to understand how the valve system on the pressure cooker works, as well as how the lid and handle are constructed to properly increase the pressure when cooking and release it when finished.

Functionality

There are generally two types of pressure cookers: electrical and stovetop. Electric pressure cookers come with settings, presets of temperature and time, programmed to cook foods to perfection. Some later models also come with an air-fry lid allowing you to have the perfect roasted chicken. If you are looking for an all-in-one piece of kitchen appliance, get yourself an electric pressure cooker, but if you are looking for simplicity, get a stovetop pressure cooker. Some are with larger and deeper pots, nonstick surface pans, and special insertions for steaming or incubation. Look into the best pressure cooker reviews for cooking speed, limitation, and overall performance.

Ease of use

Came with high functionality is inevitably a steep learning curve. Though it would take you a while to get the hang of the pressure cooker, button layouts, LCD monitors, and labels will guide you through the process. Most pressure cooker brands understand how vital intuitive design is. Hence, you only need to choose a pressure cooker with an interface you are comfortable with.

Overall Value

Last but not least is the price tag on the pressure cooker. A higher price might mean more functions, more safety features, better quality pans, and chassis. You need to make sure it is worth the investment. We suggest you experience cooking with your pressure cooker more to have more delicious meals and drive down the cost per use.

Buongiorno a tutti
