Tra le tantissime perle della produzione dei Dire Straits e di Mark Knopfler, quella che mi fa maggiormente accapponare la pelle è probabilmente Telegraph Road (album Love Over Gold, 1982 o la successiva edizione live in Alchemy del 1984).

Inizialmente questo brano mi ha colpito per la musica, poi mi sono preso la briga di approfondire il testo e..... chiudendo gli occhi quando la si ascolta, sembra di riviverla la storia di quella terra selvaggia, di quell'uomo che costruisce quella piccola capanna, dalla quale poi nasce una comunità, e poi l'arrivo del progresso, il disagio per il lavoro che non c'è, l'invidia per gli uccelli che "possono volare via da questa pioggia e questo freddo", lo sfiorire dell'amore nonostante l'impegno per un futuro migliore.

E poi, quegli ultimi 5 minuti (nell'edizione da 14 minuti) di solo di chitarra, a cui poi si aggiunge il piano, che sembrano da una parte voler liberare la mente dalle parole, e dall'altra voler quasi dire quello che il testo fino a quel punto non ha detto.....
